Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were contacted by a resident who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then located numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they added.

City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for tips.

An important official said the vandalism left him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
