19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former mentor his previous coach.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from that period of that year.
The win also indicates he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.
His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.
But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.
He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.
The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour title, took control to push for a third set.
The opponent rescued four early break points in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.
Appropriately, he secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
