An individual who spiked sweets with sedative and provided them to children at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offenses against two boys both nine and ten years old.
The defendant was taken into custody after eight youngsters and an older person fell ill at the facility in July.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he denied a single sexual charge he was facing, which was concerning a young boy.
The accused was kept in jail ahead of a additional proceeding on late November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, detailed Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She said his targets were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he managed.
Ruben engaged in a "treat game" with the children, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings the man had conducted this practice with the children "for many years", and minors had previously become sick the next day.
She said the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had suspicions in July 2025.
The prosecutor added: "In the summer" his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, with valid cause.
"They chose" to examine in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC explained materials including infant oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were discovered, and his stepchild notified the authorities about his concerns.
She stated the man continued to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"The police had not arrived by that stage," she continued.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, had stated that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the situation.
Mrs Prior said the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson called the law enforcement again.
She said the man then conducted the "sweet game" in a room of five youngsters.
